"The supplements appeared safe at these doses... The results indicate that if you're already taking these supplements in the doses tested by VITAL and you're doing well on them, there's no reason to stop."

The "Megadose" Warning: Dosage and side effects matter. While the researchers labeled these doses as safe, they issued a specific caution against "megadosing." They noted that while 1g of fish oil was safe and potentially beneficial for the heart, jumping to much higher doses without medical supervision could introduce risks (like the AFib mentioned above) that weren't seen in this study.
